On October 19th, Sumol Compal reaffirmed its commitment to the Pombal community by supporting elderly people in isolation and need. In partnership with Atlas - People Like Us, the company organized a charity event, distributing hampers with products from its brands to all beneficiaries of the “Velhos Amigos” project in Pombal.
To make this initiative even more special, two employees from the Pombal factory, Sílvia Simões and Sónia Bento, volunteered their time to visit the elderly. In addition to delivering the hampers, they provided moments of companionship and joy, reinforcing Sumol Compal’s commitment to social well-being.
This action is part of Sumol Compal’s ongoing commitment to positively contribute to local communities, promoting solidarity and inclusion. Additionally, the company is committed to raising awareness among its employees about the importance of social responsibility, encouraging active participation in initiatives that help build a fairer and more supportive society.
Sílvia Simões, one of the volunteer employees, shared her experience: “The experience was very positive. Sónia and I were welcomed by Ana Paula from Atlas, who explained how the ‘Velhos Amigos’ project works. At lunchtime, I went with Filipa, a volunteer from Lisbon, to pick up lunch and deliver it to Dona Isilda, 81 years old. She was very happy with the Sumol Compal hamper and talked a lot with me, as I was a new face. Then we delivered the hamper to Dona Laurinda, 91 years old, who was also very grateful and wanted to chat. It was a special Saturday, and I felt my heart full for being able to make a difference. I would like more colleagues to participate and for us to send even more products because these actions are good for the soul.”
Together, we collaborate so that Sumol Compal’s impact goes beyond our products, reaching the hearts of local communities.
