On November 19th and 20th, another edition of the Bootcamp Compal took place. The 30 participants from various Sumol Compal teams had the opportunity to interact directly with producers in an intensive program that combined theoretical and practical training, proving to be an immersive experience.
Fruit is one of the essential pillars of our business, and as such, it is crucial to understand its entire value chain. Inspired by the Compal Fruitology Center Academy, the Bootcamp was a condensed version designed especially for Sumol Compal teams. This year, the program focused exclusively on apples, taking place in the Oeste region, known for producing the prestigious Maçã de Alcobaça IGP.
The main objectives of the Bootcamp were: to reinforce the fruit culture within our teams; to train fruitologists within the Compal team; to promote direct contact with the fruit value chain; to experience practical fieldwork; and to bring the teams closer to the Compal Fruitology Center project.
The Bootcamp featured an intense and enriching agenda, with activities and visits led by specialists. Participants had sessions with the Associação dos Produtores de Maçã de Alcobaça, visits to the Ecopomar da Campotec and the Central Fruteira do Painho, and technical guidance from INIAV.
These activities provided a practical and comprehensive view of fruit production and commercialization, highlighting best practices in sustainability and innovation.
The Bootcamp Compal 2024 was more than just training – it was a unique experience that strengthened the connection to fruit growing and its key players.
This edition highlighted the importance of innovation, sustainability, and direct contact with industry realities, inspiring our teams to continue building a stronger and more united future for fruit growing in Portugal.
