We know that the quality and reputation of our products depends to a large extent on natural resources – namely water and fruit – and we want to contribute positively to environmental balance. Using resources efficiently and therefore reducing the company’s environmental footprint is one of SUMOL+COMPAL’s main commitments, made possible by the continuous efforts of our teams.
Every day, we work to minimise the water and energy consumption of our facilities, optimise the management of waste and subproducts of our processes, reduce the emissions of greenhouse gases and other atmospheric pollutants and the production of effluents, and improve the environmental performance of our products and packaging.
As a significant milestone in our environmental goals, of note is the awarding of EMAS (Eco-Management and Audit Scheme) registration to our Pombal production plant in 2007 stemming from voluntary involvement in a community-based eco-management and environmental auditing system. This achievement gives us particular pride since this was the first plant in the drinks sector in Portugal to achieve this recognition of excellence and transparency in environmental performance.
